I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD
Why are you dodging me
and so my lap you have fled?

Welcome to Within Thy Gates Forever

Among the most beloved and tender images of Our Lord is that of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. The artists of the old European holy cards, working as they did with visual poetry to express the truth of the Gospel, symbolized the soul both as a lamb and as a small bird; in their artistic vocabulary "small bird" was often just another way of saying "lamb". Some may fly into this collection as well as renderings of the beautiful marriage of Scripture and Tradition, devotion the The Mother of the Good Shepherd. I hope to rotate images from our small collection, bringing one each morning to the screen. Beneath the image, you will find the sweet old hymn, The King of Love My Shepherd is.
